Lambda Chi Alpha is a social fraternity that was founded in 1909 at Boston University. North Carolina State's chapter (the Gamma Upsilon Zeta Chapter) was installed in 1924, having been initially formed in 1920 as the Pi Alpha fraternity and then later petitioning to join Lambda Chi Alpha.
